I took a backup, both zip and jpa, and installed it in a new directory to test the backup and make the update before I do it on the live site. When I ran Kickstart, it stopped after 3/4 of the way then sent an error message:

well-known/pki-validation/gsdv.txt for writing

I also tried to install it without Kickstart and just extract it. That worked until I opened the administrator and it showed this error message:

An error has occurred.
0 Failed opening required '/home/customer/www/aotsbackup.autismontheseas.com/public_html/administrator/components/com_akeebabackup/vendor/autoload.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php82/pear')
What can be causing this and how do I resolve it?

The error you get after the restoration says there are missing files. I believe that is related to your failed archive extraction since the file referenced is definitely shipped with the software; it's what loads all the dependencies.

You can ignore the extraction error in Kickstart by checking the "Ignore most errors" option.

Alternatively, you can change the permissions of the .well-known/pki-validation/gsdv.txt file so that Kickstart can write to it. Please note that .well-known is a hidden directory; you will need to tell your hosting control panel's file manager or your (S)FTP client to display hidden files to be able to see it and its contents.

I tried again with a fresh jpa backup and got a message that the well-known folder can not be created. I deleted the existing well-known folder and the extraction was completed. The installation also was completed but when I logged into admin panel I got this error:

An error has occurred.
0 Failed opening required '/home/customer/www/aotsbackup.autismontheseas.com/public_html/administrator/components/com_akeebabackup/vendor/autoload.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php82/pear')
How can I fix this?

Try removing the following folders:

  • plugins/actionlog/akeebabackup
  • plugins/console/akeebabackup
  • plugins/pagecache/akeebabackup
  • plugins/quickicon/akeebabackup
  • plugins/system/backuponupdate
  • plugins/task/akeebabackup
  • plugins/webservices/akeebabackup

Log into your site and install Akeeba Backup twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between.
