I recently tried to use Kickstart Pro to import a backup from an S3-compatible storage provider. Unfortunately, it seems that Kickstart Pro currently only supports importing backups from Amazon S3, and not from other S3-compatible providers.

This is a bit of a limitation, especially considering that Akeeba Backup itself supports backups to various S3-compatible providers. It would be great if Kickstart Pro could also extend its import functionality to include these providers.

Could you please consider adding support for importing backups from S3-compatible providers (same like in Akeeba Backup) in a future update? This feature would significantly enhance the flexibility and usability of Kickstart Pro.

Thanks for your attention to this matter!

Unfortunately, that's not entirely practical. Kickstart is a single file application. The S3 library we use for our other software consists of 28 files. It would take a lot of work to make it into a single file.

The only practical way this could happen is if Kickstart Professional was a .phar file. However, most web servers I have seen do not allow you to "run" .phar files.

If I find a workaround to that, I will of course provide this feature. But, for now, there's not much that can be done. The technology exists in PHP, but is deliberately disabled on commercial hosting.
