Our production site - at https://www.rootinstitute.ngo/ - is still running Joomla 3 (though circumstances beyond my control).
|I'm working on its upgrade-to-Joomla-4 version - which is under-construction in a subdirectory - /mm4 - as I used the Migrate Me 4 extension.

I took an Akeeba Backup of the under-construction replacement site (thank goodness!) just before a disaster which stops me from logging in at https://www.rootinstitute.ngo/mm4/administrator/index.php - but this archive is just the archive of the /mm4 site.

I regret that I do not have a recent backup of the whole domain including the production site.

I copied the archive and kickstart.php into the /mm4 directory, but kickstart.php kept redirecting to the site root.

Please tell me how I can restore just the under-construction site under /mm4 without touching the production Joomla 3 site in the parent/root directory.

Thanking you!

Vicki

Kickstart doesn't do redirections. You must have a .htaccess file inside your mm4 subdirectory which causes the redirections to happen. You need to remove it. Remember that dotfiles are hidden by default in both your hosting control panel's file manager and over FTP / SFTP. If you do not have a .htaccess file in the mm4 subdirectory then the problem comes from your main site's .htaccess, therefore your problem cannot be solved within the requested parameters.

That's weird. I went back and... it wasn't redirecting (even though I swear it did several times before, and I hadn't applied any of your points of advice regarding .htaccess).

So I ran it, and it beautifullly restored my under-construction sub-site. Brilliant!

On the one hand, it seems like a slight waste of money to pay for a subscription based on a misimpression... I could have done it without you.

On the other hand, you write brilliant software and offer good support... so you're welcome to my subscription fee!  THANK YOU FOR BEING BRILLIANT!

Cheers!

Vicki
