EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 10MiB, please upload it on your server and post a link to it. (The issue I have is with a JPA archive file not a .ZIP archive)

I have an archive I created with Akeeba Backup from a Joomla 3 site. The site irretrievably crashed during an attempted upgrade to Joomla 4 and I am rebuilding from scratch in Joomla 4.

I want to restore content I had on the crashed site from the archive and would like to get some help doing this. This is not a restoration/replication of the site - simply an extraction of content from the archive, I will use this content on the new site when I complete it.

I am attaching the archive and really hope that you will be able to help. At the very least I would like to have the .JPA converted to a ..ZIP file is that is possible. The idea being that I may be able to use other tools than Akeeba Backup to try to extract the contents if necessary.

Thanks

The .JPA fle extension not allowed so I renamed to a .ZIP but the file is still a .JPA archive.

Create a subdomain on your site. Upload kickstart.php and the backup archive there. Visit the kickstart.php URL on that subdomain and extract the backup archive. When it asks you to run the installer just close the window. Your archive is now extracted in the subdomain.
