Remember that extension installation is performed by Joomla itself. Our code has nothing to do with it.
You need to talk to your host. This is a performance issue of the server itself. If it takes so long to write the ~10MiB of data contained in the ~2.4MiB ZIP file of our software to the server's disk that the server times out then the server's performance is objectively unacceptable for hosting anything other than a completely static HTML site. It's 2023. Slow hosts like that have no place in the market.

Thanks for the clarification Nicholas
I thought it may have been the 250 MB upload limit set by Siteground on uploads however as you state above your extension is only a 2.4MiB ZIP file so that limitation is not the cause.
I am wondering if my PC or internet connection could be the cause by being slow however I don't notice this slow reaction on other uploads I do.
Oddly when I tried installing Akeeba again and waited for about 3 minutes I hit the browser back button and it went directly to a working Akeeba extension.
I tested it by making a backup and it worked.
As I ran the backup I noticed it hung a long time on the redirect links and another extension called Jdownloads specifically Jdownlods_log.
These both appear to be huge and I dont think there needed for function they seem to be self replicating or set up to repeat maybe theres a way to turn them off in a setting.
I ran another backup and excluded the contents of those tables and it was shorter and did finish but its still ~3GB hopefully that backup will restore properly.
Thank you
Yeah, slow performance on SiteGround is not expected. I would recommend talking to them and tell them about your experience. Maybe the server you are on has a problem they have not detected with their automated monitoring tooling.
