Dear Support,

I tried to restore a backup of the site https://www.zeitzer-angelfischereiverein.de in https://www.zeitzer-angelfischereiverein.de/joomla/test-site/.

Everything worked well. However I can't reach the Backup site. May this due to the .htacces? Is it not a good idea ti restore a site in a sub directory?

Kind regards

Fabian

Yes, it's because of the .htaccess and no, it's not a good idea restoring to a subdirectory. You are right on both points. In fact, this is something I've covered in https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/restoring-backups.html#general-guidelines under “Do not restore in a subdirectory of your main site”. You may also want to read the immediately next paragraph in that documentation page, titled “If you are restoring on a subdomain, make sure that the subdomain's root directory is NOT a subdirectory of your main site”. It will save you a lot of frustration.
