restored site into xampp local server. I can get to the admin page in joomla but not the live site or pages any help would be greatly appreciate.

Hello,

please try to rename your current .htaccess file to .htaccess_bck (or similar) and try again with your browser in incognito mode. That last part is important since browsers are caching a lot of info, otherwise you won't see any changes.

If after this operation the website works fine, it means that the issue is with the .htaccess file. Unless you have heavily modified it, you can quickly replace it Joomla default file and keep working on your website.
