Hi,

I have been trying alday yesterday and this morning and I am defeated.

I set up a sub-domain on the server that I want to copy my joomla site to so that I have a test environment, simple right!

No not simple, I am using the Akeeba Site Transfer method. These are the steps I took:

1/ created a sub-domain, set up an ftp user account copying the username and passwords (see attached). Checked that the ftp account was working by using FileZilla, all worked fine.

2/ installed a fresh version of joomla 4.1.4 upgraded to 4.1.5 on the sub-domain called https://testarea.vcgwiki.com coppied the DB details and all login password information.

3/ installed Akeeba on the new joomla site, on the https://testarea.vcgwiki.com

4/ went to the site that I want to copy which is on the same server https://www.vcgwiki.com launched Akeeba, selected the 'Site Transfer Wizard' filled in the form settings and just can't get anything to work. I tried different ftp options but nothing.

Everything seems to be working fine on the server.

Hello,

most likely there is a firewall between your site and the new one, this is why you can connect but the connection fails when you try that from your site.

In those cases, it's way easier and faster to manually take a backup, download it, upload to the new site and start the restoration, since most of the time you're not allowed to edit firewall rules, so there's no easy solution for this issue.

Thanks I'll have another go at the kickstart method.
