I have tried to restore from a backup and it kept hanging stating "extracting files"  I left it for over two hours but nothing happened.

I Decompressed the files and uploaded it to my host by FTP and then ran the installation program, but when I try and access the front or back end I get an error. I have tried to follow your instructions but I am completely lost.

I am more than happy to pay for the site to be restored as its important.

Hello,

it would be useful to know which error you got.

However, I can perform the restoration for you. Please give me FTP access to the new site, and database access details:

database host
database name
database username
database password

In this way I can double check if there are any issues.

Hi

I have extracted all the files to the directory public_html/ NEW

Thank you very much for access details. There was something off with your site: one of the extensions you installed was hardcoding the absolute path to a file. By changing the server, that path is no longer valid and an error 500 is raised.

I just removed the .htaccess file and the .user.ini one and the restoration script loads as expected.

By the way, this is something that Kickstart is taking care of, why it wasn't used to extract the archive?

Hi,

As soon as I try and run it I get this error

Let's try to take a step back.

Please delete the NEW folder, simply upload there the backup archive, without extracting it. I'll take care of the rest and see what's going on.

Ok, now it seems to be working fine. You can proceed with your site restoration.

BTW, I strongly suggest you to exclude folders OLD from your backup, they will only inflate the size and aren't very useful.
