Whenever i try to backup the site. i get an error about being unable to truncate.

dlb

My guess is that you have a permissions problem on your backup archive itself.  Please zip and post your backup log, that will give me a more complete picture of what's going on.

I apologize, I wasn't clear enough.  I need the backup log.  You can find it from the Manage Backups screen, click on View Log on the right side, you can download it from there.

That sounds like an extraction error.  Not all of the parts of the archive are present.

I ran a new backup and this is the log. every back up i run gives me the same error.

dlb

The log shows that the backup completed successfully.  There are no errors shown in the file.

Where are you seeing the message about not being able to truncate the file?

when I run the akeeba kickstart to unpack the file in a new location is when i recieve the error.

dlb

OK, it makes a little more sense now.  This is a single part archive, so we're not missing any parts.

How did you move the backup archive to its present location?  FTP in ASCII mode will damage your archive.  You need to specify binary mode to use FTP.  Auto mode will make your FTP client guess so you never know what you're going to get.

If you have the opportunity to do another backup, go into Configuration and check the line "Archive integrity check" in the Advanced Options section.  This will do a test extract at the end of the backup process and that will tell us if the archive was good at that point.  That tells us if the problem is during the backup or after.

I am using filezilla FTP to transfer the files. I switched it from auto to binary like you suggested but it gave me the same issue.

I went into the configuration of akeeba and searched for "archive integrity check" but didn't have anything labeled as such.

dlb

The Archive Integrity Check is a checkbox in the Advanced Configuration section of the Configuration settings.
