Hi
We have several Joomla sites on which we use Akeeba backup to create and send backups to an S3 bucket. We use these backups of the live sites to install on a separate server for testing purposes.

For one of our sites, using akeeba backup, we were able to restore the folder structure. But when trying to restore the database, we got an error 2006 “mysql server has gone away”. We logged into the MySQL server to check the configuration and credentials.

Also, we have restored the databases for 2 other sites on the same server using the same config, credentials, and software without issue.

Any help would be appreciated

The error message means that the connection to the MySQL server has been broken. Sometimes that is because your host thinks you're using too many resources. In that case, we have to adjust the timing settings to slow down the restore so it uses the resources over a longer period of time. This usually solves the problem.

It could just be a momentary glitch with the MySQL server. It is worth trying to start the restore again to see if it will go through this time.
