Joomla! version: (2.5.14)
PHP version: (5.3.27)
MySQL version: (5.5.30-30.1)
Host: (http://plug.mysitehosted.com/~japoll)
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: (3.8.1)
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: (using site transfer wizard)

Description of my issue:
PHP version error when restoring. Documentation states php version 5.3. My cpanel tells me it's using 5.5.27 yet I get a "Akeeba Next Generation Installer For Joomla! requires PHP 5.3 or later" error when attemping to restore/install at http://plug.mysitehosted.com/~japoll

Are you using 5.3.27 or 5.5.27? I know there are problems with php 5.5, it is on the "too new" side.

The use of temporary urls (~japoll) can also cause problems, but I wouldn't expect a php version error from that.

Dale,

It's 5.3.27. I checked the cpanel again just to be sure. I read about the temporary urls in the documentation, but I couldn't concieve of that causing a php version error either. I couldn't come up with any other ideas so I thought I'd better ask the experts.

Thanks,
John

I'm sorry John, I'll have to find a bigger expert. I don't know why it is giving you a php version error.

Dale,

If giving you access to the cpanel on the new site would help just let me know.

John,

I want to test the php version that the restore is actually running under. It is possible that it could be different than the cPanel.
  1. Create a file named phpinfo.php containing only this:
    <?php
    phpinfo();
  2. Upload to the site
  3. Access it as http://www.example.com/phpinfo.php
  4. Observe the PHP version at the top of the page.

Dale,

I had to use http://plug.mysitehosted.com/~japoll/phpinfo.php since I don't have a domain name to point to it yet. I don't think this makes a difference.

It returned PHP Version 5.2.17. So I will get with my hosting company to arrange an upgrade. Thanks for your time and effort!

John
