Here's the error we are getting which is preventing us from going any further. I've had much success in the past and this is the first time it is not working. thanks

This means that XML support is not enabled in PHP. Can you please contact your host and show them these error messages?

ok, we are checking - it does say in the wizard XML Support and a yes by it... I'll wait to hear back from the host though. thanks!

Here is the message I received back from the host:

Yes, it is enabled.

From the message it seems the issue is a malformed XML document - String could not be parsed as XML.

I'm looking in Joomla!'s code. There seems to be an issue with the component being loaded in the front page of your site or one of the system plugins, namely in their option files (the XML files accompanying each extension). I have a slight idea about what could be going on. Did you try to restore on top of an existing site?

Thanks for looking at that - I've passed that along. I did the site design and just provided the files with backup, kickstart and documentation to another company so I'm troubleshooting for them. I think they have just left for the weekend, so I may not get an answer now til Tuesday. Thanks so much for your assistance and hopefully we'll have joy on Tuesday morning!
