Description of my issue:

Hello,
I'm pissed!
Tried to do a restore of a buckup which was 1 hour old and during the restore process it tells me now the MB Sprache ist Standard: NO and want let me go further in the process.
Also I cannot cancel the process and our website is not accessable and goes to the restoring process page :((((
What do we have todo now that we will get our site online again!!!???

the software is akeeba latest, joomla latest, files stored at dropbox, php and mysql latest, own host.

This is a Joomla! requirement. The MB language must be set up. Ask you host to set the mbstring.language to "neutral" in their php.ini file and then retry the restoration. It should now work.

When you get your site back, please upgrade Akeeba Backup. Ever since 18 months or so ago I have modified Akeeba Backup Installer to allow you to proceed with a restoration even if you get this error.

hello,

thanks for fast reply!
Well, if this is a joomla requirement, why was this not shown and blocked installation?
Set the mbstring now to neutral, as I'm my own host it was not an issue.

Also, what shall I update if I have Akeeba 3.4.3 installed, and the check indicates me that we are runnibg the latest build?

Hm, I'm pretty darn sure that Joomla! does show the error message regarding the MB language. At least it did as of 1.7.2. I have not tried installing a Joomla! 2.5 site from scratch recently and can't tell for sure.

Normally, even if you receive that error during a restoration, you should be able to click on the Next button despite it being marked as a required setting. I know that Joomla! says it's a required setting, but in many cases Joomla! has worked just fine. Did you try clicking on the Next button when you got the error message?
