Description of my issue:

Hi,

I have had problems with my site and disk space.

I have the latest backup file, and a restore point which is 2 weeks after the backup file.

I manage to restore the backup file, but I cant restore the restorepoint backup file as it does not show in the list of files that I can restore

When I use kickstart, I can select the restorepoint file which is in my ROOT directory, Kickstart starts and then fails

Any suggestions much appreciated

When you restore an earlier full site backup, the necessary information to restore a system restore point backup are removed from your database and you can no longer restore it. Moreover, SRP backups are not regular backups and they can not be restored in the same way as other backups. If you want to restore an SRP backup manually:
- Extract it locally, using Akeeba eXtract Wizard
- Upload all extracted files and folders to your site's root, except for the folder named sql.
- Open the sql folder and follow steps 3 and 4 of the emergency manual restoration procedure.
It's a little complicated, but SRPs were never designed to address disaster recovery scenarios, like the one you have.

Thank you Nicholas for the update.

This seems a bit time consuming and you will need to make sure in the SQL section you do everything correct. BUT this will be worth a try if we cant get a site restore from the hosting company.

Thanks again for the help

Hi Nicholas,

Does the eXtraxt wizard only do jps files as the file I have is a jpa file

restore-point-20120317-195404.jpa

It can extract JPA, JPS and ZIP backups archives created by Akeeba Backup. In short, it supports the same archives as Kickstart.
