Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? NYes
Joomla! version: (2.5.1)
PHP version: (5.2.17)
MySQL version: (5.0.92-community)
Host: (novatrend.ch)
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: (latest)
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: (latest)

Description of my issue:
I'm building a site, so everything is with the latest versions of the software.
I had do a restoration and on the page where kickstart ask for database detaisl, everything is correctly filled out (same location, same database9 and when I click to proceed with extraction and writing the database, the message comes that no database could be found or connected to.
I've checked everything, even tried a different backup, asked the hosters to look - everything is correct, but it won't go past this.
So I am now stuck.

Any ideas?

David

Hi David,

First try switching between the MySQLi (with a trailing i) and MySQL (without a trailing i) connection types. If this doesn't help, please tell me what is the exact error message which shows up (copy & paste it here).

Hi Nicholas
I have tried that too, with no luck. Now I am only getting a 403 Forbidden Message. So I changed the backup file and uploaded kickstart again and tried

All I get now is:

An error occured
Invalid AJAX data received:
Invalid archive type or extension in file

Start over
Can't get it to work? Click me!

The one thing I have on this site which I'm very suspicious of, is Ohanah - which has caused me problems with other sites, but not akeeba before

Hmm
I've just been told by the hoster that they have played their backup over the system, so I can't reproduce the error. I'll write if I still have problems.
Sorry if I wasted your time, but I've never had any problems using kickstart before

If it's a 403, I have an idea what could be causing this. If your password contains anything else except a-z, A-Z, 0-9, underscore and dash it is possible that the server's security settings block the request.

Interesting - yes I use an exclamation mark in my password.
I never thought of that.

Good tip!

I've seen too many restorations fail because of that :)
