L.S,

When using quick setup of admin tools ip-workaround is advices to YES. After installating configuration of admintools advices NO. Which answer is the correct one? :-)

Kind regards,
Marc

p.s. missed the answer about ip blocking: thanks for that answer!

Okay, not enable is probably what I need to do.
Still confused me because recommended setting was 'yes' on setup and 'no' on configuration. I'll set it to 'no' because after the quick setup it says no so for some reason that looks more correct :)
Thanks,
Marc

Once you set it to "Yes" the recommendation will always switch to "No" for the very simple reason that we now determine that the correct IP is being reported to the server, i.e. the workarounds have kicked in.

Okay, last one and I leave you to it :-) Maybe I am stupid so double check :P

I should follow the first advice from the quick set-up (there it says "yes, enable" and ignore the advice afterwards when create the .htaccess from within the component (where it then says "no, don't").

This also means that if I don't use the quick setup after installation and head over to create .htaccess from the component it will say "yes, enable" and after saving the .htaccess and again click on create htaccess it will say "no, don't"? I understand it correctly?

In any case, gracias!

The .htaccess file has nothing to do with that. This is an option in the Configure WAF page.

Sorry, your right :-) Not surprissing.
I will try both routes on a next install and perhaps then I know which of the 2 is 'dominant'. If I get mixed messages after reading your manual and the suggestions the software make I maybe ask again, for now I will follow the first advice and set it to yes.
Regards,
Marc

The idea is pretty simple.

When someone NOT connected to your WiFi network gets blocked by Admin Tools, do you also get blocked at the same time without doing anything? If the answer is YES then set the option to YES. If the answer is NO then set the option to NO.

Then NO it is :) A lot of IP's are blocked on many of our sites on the same configuration servers and only those IP's are blocked, not other people and not me. So the server get's the correct IP.

I can block myself on my internet connection and then unblock myself via my telecomprovider network.

That is the biggest downside to blocking on IP, schools and telecomproviders have 1 ip for a school or a limited count of ip's in case of mobile phone providers so 1 mistake and many blocked. But better than letting it open, it's is extreem how many attempts sometimes come in a day (10.000+) so thank you for your tool and also server fail2ban :P For junior-techs like me this saves a lot of headache ;-)

Have a good weekend!
