 Hi Nicholas, Davide,

I recently logged a call in the Wordpress section before reading that I should have logged it here - apologies for that!

Wordpress v3.9
PHP: 5.4.21
MYSQL: 5.1.72-cll-lve

Backups work fine, dropbox upload now works fine in b3 version.

Further comments about v1.0b3 which you may or may not be aware of:

The version of php on my servers is 5.4.21, however on the update page, Akeeba displays the PHP warning message, even though it's in excess of stated minimum version requirements. Incidentally, un-checking the "Display a warning message when PHP is outdated" does nothing - the warning still appears. Version information is all correct.

I guess this breaks the update function in Wordpress, as I was unable to automatically update the plug-in and there was no notification that an update was available (on the wordpress plug-in page).

Thanks for the good work :)

Regards
Alan.

Yes, I am aware of this. I will be working on this today :)

I was unable to automatically update the plug-in and there was no notification that an update was available (on the wordpress plug-in page).

It will never be an update notification there, just like with every commercial WP plugin. WP's update page can only talk to WP.org's plugin directory. This directory requires all listed plugins to be free of charge. Obviously we can't list Akeeba Backup for WordPress Professional over there as it's not free of charge.

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for your reply.

I thought you might have the php message in hand and I understand about the WP update page now! Many thanks for clarifying.

Best regards,
Alan.

Nicholas,

Do you want any feedback on the b4 update that's appeared in the plugin updates list?

Regards
Alan.

Yes, please, BUT: if you installed 1.0.b4 using WordPress' plugin manager don't give me any feedback. The WordPress plugin management can only upgrade to the free (Core) version with reduced functionality. I am still trying to find a good way to have a core and a pro version without WordPress reporting the free Core version as an upgrade to the paid Pro version when it's clearly not the case :(

Ah rightho, understood.

That'll explain the reduced functionality then :)

Exactly :) I was sure this is what happened to you. I have put it on my today's to-do list to fix this.

No rush, Nicholas. It's not on a production site - and it backs up perfectly fine. :)

Well, good news, I found out what the problem was. Both the Core and Professional versions were reporting the same plugin name. Naturally, WordPress thought that it should show the updates since the name matched. The fix is quite simple: the Professional version will report itself as "Akeeba Backup Professional for WordPress" and WordPress won't offer automatic updates to the Core version. Once I figured out the solution I had a major facepalm moment...
