Hi Nicholas and team,
first of all I would like to thank you once again for your Joomla extensions which I use a lot and which are essential on all the websites I develop! I'am very, very happy with Akeeba Backup Pro and Admin Tools Pro!!!

This is a improvement suggestion for your Akeeba Extension Manager, which replaces the Standard Joomla Extension Manager.

Would it be very difficult to add a few lines of code in your Extension Manager which purge the Joomla Cache at the end of any update installation? I was a little puzzled at the beginning when I turned back to the Control Panel and found an Update notification for an Update I just installed.

Now I know that I have to purge the cache myself to make the Notification disappear. I do not know if there are other reasons not to purge the cache after an update but there may be reasons I do not know of.

We do not have such a product and, as a matter of fact, we are FORBIDDEN from creating such a product on penalty of being unlisted forever by the Joomla! Extensions Directory. All update information to our software is now fetched and the updates themselves downloaded and installed by Joomla! itself. We have discontinued Akeeba Live Update in our March 2014 releases.

If you installed an update to one of our extensions and Joomla!'s Extensions Manager is still reporting an update please file a bug report to the Joomla! project. It's their code, not ours. We can't provide support or bug fixes for core Joomla! code as it's beyond our control.

Sorry, I probably was a bit unclear. It is the "Extensions installation enhanced by Akeeba Backup" which I was talking about.
I am using Akeeba Backup Professional 3.10.2 (2014-03-09) which I guess is the latest version.
Kind regards

This is still Joomla!'s own Extensions Installer (com_installer). What we have done is create a plugin which sees when you are trying to install an update to an already installed extension. In this case, as soon as the upload (if installing from a package) or the download (if installing an update hosted on an external server) is completed you are redirected to Akeeba Backup. Akeeba Backup takes a backup, called "System Restore Point", of the extension you are updating. Then, it takes you directly back to Joomla!'s own Extensions Installer (com_installer) which completes the update process.

As a result, what you are reporting is something that Joomla! ought to have done but it doesn't. We have no control over the code that is supposed to clear the updates cache, as this code is found inside Joomla! itself.
