My AdminTools subscription was just auto-renewed. I would like to change the payment method for future BackupPro and AdminTools renewals. I see no place to change or update payment types.
Thanks

I am absolutely sure that your subscription cannot have possibly auto-renewed because I am absolutely against automatic payments and I have certainly not enabled such a feature on our site. Sure enough, you renewed both of your subscriptions manually on January 10th, 2014, prompted by our email reminding you that your subscription was expiring in a month. You have received a total of six emails. For each subscription you received: a. a receipt from 2Checkout; b. an email from us telling you that your subscription was paid and will be activated in a month's time and c. a payment invoice. You chose the payment method when manually renewing both subscriptions.

Which brings us back to your question. You choose the payment method when you manually renew your subscriptions.

If you're wondering why I am against auto-renewals, the top reasons are:
  • They are unfair to the user. If you fail to cancel the automatic renewal before it is executed it is unlikely to get a refund. In a way, it's cheating you out of your money (unless you pay attention to the really fine print)
  • They're inflexible. I always try to give deep discounts (currently: 30%) to people renewing their subscriptions early. With an auto-renewal we can't have this flexibility. We have to charge you the same price every time. This also creates a big problem when the VAT changes, as it happened this January when it went from 18% to 19%. If we were still charging the old prices for new subscriptions we'd be committing a felony. Big whoops!

I hope that clarifies things a bit :)

I took the following automated email to mean that my ADMINTOOLS subscription was a "renewal" that was "activated".

Generally if I have some auto renew in place there are very similar emails sent to let me know my account was "renewed".

Glad to hear you do not auto renew. Maybe just that I had subscription time remaining on ADMINTOOLS left and just today the new subscription actually took place. That must be it.

Thanks again for your terrific, life-saving software tools. Luv em.

Hello dchamp,

We'd like to remind you that you have registered on our site using the username (deleted by me) and email address (deleted by me).

Ah, I understand your confusion. When you bought the renewal a month ago you were sent an email informing you that the renewed subscription would be activated on February 10th. We do that so that you don't lose any subscription time if you renew early. The email you got yesterday was simply letting you know that the subscription you had bought a month earlier was now activated.
