Hello, the remote control client, freezes every morning when I will access it.
This happends on a XP version as also on two other machines witch Windows Server2003 (previous installed on it).
Is there more experience in this case and more important, what can I do about it? :)

Thanks in advance.
Arwin

Arwin,

This one is an odd one. Does your user profile follow you to each computer? In other words do you have the same My Documents folder no matter which computer you log in on? The fact that the problem is happening on multiple computers has me stumped, but the mobile profile could explain that.

Hello Dale,

Although I think it's a good thought, the answer to that question is: no
On the two server2003 systems, it was running on the administrator account and on de XP system it’s running on my own account.

Arwin,

I want to rename the SQLite database to see if Remote comes up properly. I'm running Remote under Wine in Linux, so I may not have the path exactly right, /Documents and Settings/[user]/Local Settings/Application Data/Akeeba/, rename the file arc.sqlite. Now restart Remote. It will see the data file is missing and recreate it. If Remote comes up, we know the cause is a corrupted database.

Dale,

A little mis understanding here I think..
AkeebaRC is freezed when I logon to XP (AkeebaRC is running overnight, making backups)
When I abort the program (Taskmanager) and restarted the program, it starts right away and I can do the backups..
Some backups occasionally fails, but most at the time when I re-run the specific backupjob, its going fine.. (I read on the forum this is probably because our internetconnectionspeed, we will upgrade soon)
Maybe the problem is somewhere in the error-trapping? (Just an suggestion, I do not know ;) )

Kind Regards, Arwin

OK, that makes a little more sense. Sometimes you have to draw me a picture. :)

I need to ask Nicholas to look at this.

Which version are you using?

Remote Control is in the process of being rewritten. Most probably its the scheduler which triggers this issue. To be honest, this codebase has gone beyond the maintenance feasibility level, that's why I have decided to throw it away and start afresh.

Thanks for the response Dale and Nicholas,
I currently use version 2.5.0.36 of AkeebaRC but the problem also occurs in earlier versions.
I look forward to the rewritten version!

Best Regards, Arwin
