I have a module that is configured to show links to pages. i remove one link yet it continues to show on the page. this is the only module next to the search that i can find for that page.

I don't really understand what you're asking. I'm guessing that you're making changes in the back end that aren't showing up on the front end.
Make sure your cache is off. Caching can make it look like the changes are not taking effect.
Make sure your front end is where you think it is. :) Are you being redirected to another location, by your .htaccess file perhaps?
