Where do i find the configuration file to place the contenct in it?

If you're doing a restore and JoomlaPack couldn't write to the config file, you're looking for configuration.php in the root of your site.

JoomlaPack itself doesn't use a config file any more, the profile information is stored in database tables.

So, what happens if you skip the copy/paste to the configuration.php step (long story)? The site seems to be working well, but I cannot make changes in the Joomla! administrator. I looked at the config file, but things 'looked fine'.

I get two errors:

* JFTP::write: Bad response Message

* An Error has occurred! Unable to open configuration.php file to write!

I did manage to get the backup process to work by some chance miracle, but I venture to say FTP has never been configured correctly in Joomla.

Just edit the Joomla! Global Configuration and turn the ftp layer off. In most cases it isn't necessary. If your server is sensitive to file ownership and permissions, you'll get all sorts of permission type problems without it and you'll have to re-enable the ftp layer and fix the settings.

If the changes to the configuration.php file weren't posted, the most important issue would be the database connection settings. Make sure you're not still connected to an old database. The other settings would be the tmp and log folder paths and perhaps the $live_site variable. $live_site in not usually required.
