Hi,
can somebode explain me how to handle "Invalid task" error while restoring site from archive. The error occures after the step of pushing data to database.
thanks

php version is 4.3.
jpi4-hotfix didn't help
kickstart - last version

I thought that was fixed in 2.3.3, but it is evidently still hanging around. :( You can use the JPI3 installer when you do your backup. You can change the installer on the Advanced pane of the JoomlaPack Configuration screen.

This is a php4 only problem, it does not affect php5 systems.

I have an entry in my .htaccess file that forces php5 but when using kickstart, i'm still getting the invalid task error. does kickstart disable this .htaccess command, thus reverting back to php4??? if so, is there a way to put these lines into the .htaccess that is run with kickstart (required for 1and1 hosting)

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

i think the problem may have been that the modified .htaccess file was inside the archive, so it was never being read prior to the install. I placed it in the restoration folder along with the archive, kickstart, the language .ini file and all seems to be workign well, so far.

Everything works well now.

Tip: if you have a .htaccess command that needs to run with your host to "force" PHP5, make sure that you have the correct .htaccess file in the install folder before starting the kickstart/installation process.

So you'll probably have:

.htaccess
archivefilename.jpa
languagefile.ini
kickstart.php

Then navigate to the right folder to the kickstart file and you're off and running...

example:

http://www.mydomain.com/kickstart.php

Actually, this is a "special handling" situation. Kickstart renames the .htaccess file in the archive when extracting it to prevent it from interfering with the restore. If you have a command that is required, it needs to be manually put in a temporary .htaccess file during the restore. The "cleanup" step in kickstart will restore your normal .htaccess file.

Your solution is exactly what needs to be done, upload the .htaccess file with the archive and kickstart. If you had put the .htaccess file inside the backup archive, it wouldn't have worked. :)
