Hi...
I have a live Joomla site and I want it to transfer it to my localhost,as I will be making new template and making some important modifications also..
So I want to work on localhost..

Just want to transfer the live site to WAMP localhost..

I took a whole site backup from JoomlaPack v2.2. and used the JoomlaPack eXtract Wizard on my desktop and extracted the whole folder and files to a new folder on my desktop.

But now when I try to open my folder or URL, it gives me 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.

KINDLY GET ME A SOLUTION... :P

You can check your server error log for more information on the 500 error. That is a generic error, it doesn't give any information about what happened to cause it. There would be more details in the log.

It sounds like you have done everything right so far. The next step would be to run the installation script to restore the database. You would be automatically redirected to that if you hadn't gotten the 500 error.

HI, having experienced a similar problem, I sorted it by editing the configuration.php file in the root - you may find that there are references to paths on the live site that need to be changes (and I had to change some of the db settings as well).

Was tearing my hair out before I got to this stage!

Just remembered - I also had to rename my .htaccess file to htaccess.txt before it would work properly.

You shouldn't have to edit the configuration.php file, the installation script will do that for you. It will prompt for the new database connection settings and write them back to config. Version 2.0 and higher of JoomlaPack also adjust the log and tmp paths, version 1.x did not.

The .htaccess file can mess you up and it can result in a 500 error. If you use kickstart to extract the archive, it automatically renames .htaccess on extraction and names it back in the cleanup step. If you are restoring over an existing site or manually extracting the archive, you should temporarily rename .htaccess.
