Hi Nicholas,

first of all thanks for that great component.

I installed JoomlaPack on 2 different websites - J! 1.0.15 and J! 1.5.9
Everythings seems to be okay. But the backup process on the J! 1.5.9 website is much slower than the backup on the other website.

Now I have tried to use the Remote tool to automate the backup process. Unfortunately I can´t get running the Remote tool on both sides.

On the J! 1.0.15 website I installed JoomlaPack 1.2.3 without a plugin. On J! 1.5.9 website JoomlaPack 2.2 with the xmlrpc plugin.

The Remote tool always hangs with the message: checking if remote plugin is active

I´ve tried all the workarounds I could find at this forum - without success.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Greetings
Kai

As said in the release notes, the new site wizard is not working properly in the 2009.2 release. The problem lies with a new feature added in 2009.2, which tries to overlook any PHP notices and warnings before the actual XML-RPC response from the server.

I will be releasing today Native Tools 2009.3 which addresses this problem, so it should work all right.

Nicholas,

thanks a lot. Now everything works fine.

One last question:
Is it possible not to autostart all backups when the remote tool is started? When I open the remote tool to add a new site or to check something else the backup jobs of all my sites start automatically.

I´m going to donate now for this really helpful Joomla component.

Thanks.

I guess that backups auto-start due to their scheduling settings. You can either disable scheduling (edit each site and choose the appropriate setting from the drop-down list in the Scheduling tab) or just cancel the backup attempt once they start (using the Stop All toolbar button)

Hi Nicholas,

some sites are backuped dailey and some weekly. All backups are starting on 01-06-2009 on different times. The remote tool shortcut is in the autostart of my server which backups all the sites.

So when I start the server or start the remote tool manually all backup schedules are starting automatically. That´s not what I like.

Downsizing the remote tool window positions the icon in the info area.
Everything looks great except for the autostart backups.

Are you using Native Tools 2009.3? Previous versions did have an issue with the scheduling algorithm. Also note that if JPRemote detects that a scheduled backup was skipped, it will try to take a backup as soon as possible, i.e. when you start it again. JPRemote from Native Tools 2009.3 allows you to cancel the autostarting backup. Previous versions would allow you to cancel the backup, but they would start it again after 3 seconds, when the scheduling algorithm would automatically run again.
