HI,

for some reason i cant connect on any ftp joomla site

i keep getting this error- "cannot connect to ftp server. please check your connection parameters"

It might sound trivial, however im sure every detail has been inserted correctly, as ftp works with my other software e.g dreamweaver. When i do a test in the downloads tab it say connection is fine. Its when i try to 'get profile' in the basic tab where i get the first error, then the main error when i try to download. It happens on every site so i dont know whats stopping it from connecting, any ideas?

My host limits me to two concurrent ftp connections from a single IP address. If you are testing multiple sites with multiple ftp clients, you could run into a connection limit very quickly.

The "get profile" function uses http, not ftp. You need to enter the address in the host url field without the "http://" prefix, just enter "www.mysite.com/xmlrpc/index.php".

but thats when i seem to see the error

The error you mention:

do not correlate!

I don't know which of two error you have: you either can't get a list of profiles OR you can't connect to your site's FTP, which is used for downloading files. I assume it's the latter.

In the FTP server's address tab you are supposed to enter the domain of your FTP server, which would be something like "ftp.pnworldwide.net". In fact, it's the same as the one you put in DreamWeaver, without the ftp:// part. The "Initial Directory" should contain the absolute FTP path to your site's backup output directory which is NOT the same as the one you have in your JoomlaPack configuration. It's the one you see on an FTP client (i.e. FileZilla) when you connect to your site and browse to the backup putput directory. Use the "Test connection" button to verify that Remote can connect to your site's FTP server and the FTP directory you specified exists.
