Hi :)
It should be great if in JoomlaPack Remote could be a field to write the description.

When you make backups from JoomlaPack Remote on the "Administrer Backups Files" section of JoomlaPack(online) appears the common description:

XMLRPC backup

..generally when I administrate the backups I don't see the names of the files but the name of the description...because I use this syntax:

WEBSITE NAME - DATE(in the European format DD-MM-YY) - HOUR

I hope this can help!

thanks,
m.

Thank you, I'll flag your suggestion for Nicholas.

This something I have planned for a future version. It will be a per-site field supporting a few "template" names, like [DATE], [LONGDATE] and [TIME], so that you don't have to type in the backup description every time you back up your site with Remote (remember that my objective is to make Remote a utility for automatic multi-site backup, not a manual remote front-end for JoomlaPack).

Nicholas,
I am now using the remote successfully (including ftp download) on numerous sites with great success. After using it for a while now, I would find the ability to be able to "group" sites a real benefit. I am thinking that if I could create groups and assign sites to different groups, I would be able to backup sites based on different needs such as frequency, importance, business need etc.

Awesome product overall!

Have you tested JoomlaPack Remote with Bluehost hosting?

Thanks,
m.

@TheDonald - Good suggestion! Nicholas should be watching this thread, he'll see it when he gets back online.

@NeroInferno - I don't know what hosts the testing team use, so I can't really answer your question.

@TheDonald - This is on my long-term to-do list. I'll have to make the new version stable first, this is the next step I was thinking of.

@NeroInferno - No, it's not one of the hosts we have tried. Is there a problem with them, or are you just doing some market research before buying a hosting package?

Hi Nicholas,
as i said in another thread here i can't use the windows tool, because it seems that the Bluehost hosting doesn't create in the real time the backup, but it processes it. So when your program try to contact the FTP can't find any backup available. It generally appears in some minutes.

Thanks,
N.

Ah, yes, I remember it now! There is a plan to create a feature which might be of use to you: the remote backup administration. It is going to be the same thing as the "Administer Backup Files" page, but in JoomlaPack Remote.

It is not possible to create a "delayed download" feature for backup files, because this would mess up the queueing algorithms.
