Since you are restoring to a
different server, you are in fact performing a
migration, not a restoration. You don't even need Joomla! installed on the new server!
Just upload kickstart.php and your backup file
to your site's root. If your new site is accessible at
http://www.example.com then you should visit the address
http://www.example.com/kickstart.php . Easy, right?
