I haven't been getting email notifications when users create or reply to tickets since I updated to version 2.2.0 on Monday. I haven't gotten any complaints from users about not getting notifications to replied tickets but I don't know for sure if they're getting theirs. I didn't ask but they are replying to responses so it's likely they are.

I noticed from your changelog that there was some email changes and issues with Joomla! email. Should I be making any configuration changes to resolve this? I've checked around but everything seems to be in order.

Any suggestions?

I believe that's an issue related with changes in Joomla! 3.5. Can you please install the latest development release which applies a workaround for this and tell me if that fixes this issue?

Thanks. This seems to work although this version has removed the 'Akeeba Ticket System' menu item from the admin menu.

Do you have a url to the bug report you made re the mailer bug in Joomla! 3.5? Trying to understand this issue a little better.

I had talked directly to a member of the PLT about the mailer issue (suddenly throwing exceptions instead of returning false). Since that was a personal conversation I am not at liberty of disclosing it. However, I can tell you that they were aware and could not roll it back because that would restore other bugs regarding the mailer. This is why Joomla! 3.6 is being released so shortly after 3.5 (among other reasons): the fixes for the mailer issue would be so substantial that it could no longer be called 3.5.2.

Ok got you.

Well the workaround you coded seems to be working ok. I'm now getting notifications and my users are getting their notifications. The only issue with the dev release is it removes the menu item to the component in the backend so I have to type in the url to access it. I'll await your update.

The removal from the admin menu is actually a Joomla bug that has existed since Joomla 1.6. It's complicated and pretty much requires rewriting how Joomla installs updates – therefore nobody touches it.
