The issue reported in #23608 is still a problem. The work-around of disabling the subscriber integration plugins is still needed.

Hello David,

yes, that's the intended behavior. If you don't have Akeeba Subscription installed, you have to disable both plugins.

Thank you for the feedback. I think it would be worth revising the intended behaviour since I only found this on testing the site and hadn't come across warnings in the docs or during installation! It feels like a bug to me.

A few possible changes:
  • Install the plugins but only enable them if the subscription component is installed or upon installing the subscription component.
  • OR, in the plugin code, check for the component before continuing.
  • If that isn't practical, put a prominent warning in the admin (similar to the no-menu warning).
  • If that cant' be done, please at least put a warning in the documentation

mhm... after digging inside the code, I saw that indeed those plugins are enabled by default.
I just changed it, so you have to manually enable them.
