Where can I define the list of supported file extensions a user may attach?
Searched the official PDF manual for instances of "upload" and "supported file", but did not find any clear instruction.

Yes, of course you can. It's actually defined system wide in Joomla!, it's not an option in Akeeba Ticket System. If I recall correctly you have Joomla! 2.5 so my instructions are for this Joomla! version.

  • Go to your site's administrator back-end
  • Click on Content, Media Manager
  • Click the Options button in the toolbar.
  • Click on the Component tab.
  • Enter your comma separated extensions (without the dot) in the "Legal extensions (File Types)". In your case I'd say append ,pdf,PDF (note that you need to add both the lower- and uppercase extensions!)
  • If you have "Restrict Uploads" enabled follow the next two steps
  • Set Check MIME Types to No
  • Add pdf,PDF to Legal Image Extensions
  • Finally, click on Save & Close

I suspected ATS would leverage an existing Joomla feature rather than reinventing the wheel and so went to Media Manager portion of the admin UI, although failed to notice the Legal Extensions field.
Gotta get bionic eyes to replace my poor sight urgently.

Thanks for the thorough reply,
