Hi, I'm a current Joomla pro customer and I'm thinking about purchasing the solo version to backup Nextcloud (a fork of Owncloud). Have you heard of anyone doing that or can you think of any reason why it would not work?? LAMP with over 10 gigs of files saving in a linux directory, not database.

Centos 7
mariaDB latest

I am not quite sure what you are trying to do. If you want to backup the NextCloud installation, no, this is not something Solo was made for. Solo is made to backup sites based on PHP.

If you want to backup your sites to NextCloud then that's something which should work, assuming NextCloud supports one of the file transfer solutions already implemented in Solo.

I looking to backup the Nextcloud installation. And it IS a PHP based 'website'.

Nextcloud, and I assume owncloud, do not have an automated backup option.

The backup process consists of copying data folder and dumping the database, like with any other LAMP web apps.
I'm thinking Akeeba could automate this and send it to S3.
Nextcloud backup docs

FWIW, it is possible to use remote storage, with encrypting option, with Nextcloud. But I would still want to backup the installation since Nextcloud also hosts a number of other webapps: contacts, calendar, RSS reader, etc.

I'll give it a shot. It if works, I'll post a review here.

I have never tried backing up OwnCloud / NextCloud itself. I think it's best that you try with the free version to see how that goes.
