We recently had an issue with a script that went stupid and caused a lot of core dumps.

During my cleanup I noticed today that the _admintools_log on the affected site is extremely large, around 400MB. The complete database backup is 432MB, suggesting that the database is bloated by the log table.

Is it safe to drop the records in the table?

The answer to your question is "yes", but...

The System - Admin Tools plugin will trim the table for you automatically. Open the plugin and the very last field sets the limit on the number of entries. Note that it will purge your large table a few entries at a time until it catches up with the limit so you don't run into a timeout issue.
