This is more a feature request.

It would be great to be able to ftp a copy and save to dropbox.

Is chained cloud processing on the roadmap?

I know I could create another profile but that would recreate the backup which is resource expensive.

Another option would be to use latest local backup for cloud storage.

No, chained transfer is not going to be implemented. It is equally resource intensive and very, VERY complicated to implement, let alone set up. This was a decision made four years ago, when designing the backup engine, after quite a lot of thought and it's extremely unlikely it will change in the foreseeable future.
