Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes, nothing strikes me as similar.
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes.
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes. Many times.

Joomla! version: (1.7)
PHP version: (5.3.8)
MySQL version: (5.5.16)
Host: (wamp2.2 local)
Akeeba Backup version: (current)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Trying to install my same file in wamp and get rid of the different users issue. I'm getting this warning:

Notice: Use of undefined constant DS - assumed 'DS' in C:\wamp\www\joomla_development\installation\includes\logic\index.php on line 125

Can you tell me what it means please? How does it affect me.

Best,

Ben

I have never published a version called "Current". Please reply with the EXACT version number of Akeeba Backup used to generate the backup archive.

PS: I already know that you have an outdated version of Akeeba Backup. This bug was fixed a few months ago. I just want you to see for yourself.

Sorry about that Nicholas. Just got lazy. I updated it to the current version.

Akeeba Backup Core3.3.11 (2012-01-02)

I originally developed that joomla site, the one with permissions issues (permissions hell), in wamp. The database user was "root" with no pass. It is now working again in wamp (the same way) and I can upload extensions now. When I clone the site and upload it to my server to create the new site, how can I avoid the permissions issue this time?

Best,

Ben

No problem :) I was just making a point that "Current" is usually misleading.

Regarding "Permissions Hell", it's easy to avoid! Use Kickstart's FTP mode to restore your site and enable Joomla!'s FTP options. That's all. Even better, you can migrate to a host which uses suPHP or Apache's mod_itk (like CloudAccess.net, iRedHOST and Rochen) which effectively ensure that Apache and FTP run under the same user, making it impossible to end up in permissions hell again.
