We use a secured URL to access the Administration area of our Joomla sites. Is there anyway to include that string with the Update Link?

If you mean that you are using Admin Tools' secret URL parameter for the back-end, this is a feature added in the current release of Live Update, bundled with Admin Tools 2.2.a1 and Akeeba Backup 3.3.11. So, the next time an update is available for either of these software, the update link should already include your secret URL parameter.
