Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? I don't understand much of it.

MySQL version: (latest)

Description of my issue:

It would be nice to be able to use Kickstart to restore one file or folder. That is all I ever need.

I have always viewed Akeeba as catastrophe insurance and used the Rochen vault for single files. Then they broke the user access to my server and a year has now gone by without direct access so I have to open a ticket with their tech staff when I need a file restored. I don't like to ask them and I am sure they have better things to do.

I could imagine downloading my all-site backup file (50meg) in jpa format, but what would I use to find and select and separate a single file or folder for ftp-ing up to the server?

Best,

Lowtech

Lowtech -

Akeeba does have ways to filter out files and folders, but its purpose is to backup your whole site mainly. It can be used for other things. Some people have setup backups that just backup the images folder. others use it to just backup the database only.

As you suggested, you could download the JPA file to your local machine. you can then use the Akeeba Extract Wizard to extract the jpa on your local machine. You could then use that restored archive to ftp files back to the server.

Much thanks for this!

Solves a huge problem!

I have never tried the Extract Wizard but I will right now.

Best,

Lowtech
