Joomla! V1.70
PHP version: whatever GoDaddy offers Linux 4GH AP region 5.2 I think
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: GoDaddy
Akeeba Backup version: Akeeba Backup Core3.3.10 (2011-12-04)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
happy with my first restore today. two things missing, not able to login to /administrator and RSforms component is broken. site: pisa.net.au Your comments on editing configuration.php were read and check...no changes reqd. comparing my new configuration to config file I have at testsitepro6.biz there are a few differences. they are attached. as you say Nic this is a common problem but I cannot see my mistake and I'm sure it is only minor. there were no error messages during kickstart routine.

extremely impressed with this product.

You either had a backup or extraction issue. In the case of a backup issue, Akeeba Backup would have thrown a warning to notify you that the administrator directory is unreadable. It would not warn you, however, if the administrator directory was set as the temporary or backup output directory, in which case its contents are skipped from the backup set as a safeguard against trying to backup the in progress backup archive OR the temporary files used during backups, as per our documentation's warnings. In that case, you have to make sure that a. your backup output directory is NOT the administrator directory of your site and b. your site's Temp directory is NOT the administrator directory. If you ZIP and attach the backup log file, I can tell you if this is the case with your site.

In the case of an extraction issue, Kickstart or Akeeba eXtract Wizard should have thrown an error message in case of a failed extraction. Please note that I am assuming that you are using Kickstart 3.3.2, the latest version as of this writing. If you use an older version, you might have been affected by a bug.

I uploaded the administrator folder from my test site and all issues are new resolved! although the reason I had a problem remains a mystery I am delighted I have been able to do these system tasks without much administrator knowledge. so you have a happy customer down here in Australia Nic.

Nic. I need some more advice as I have discovered I have made a mistake in my restoration. I host at GoDaddy and build my sites in test domains and wish to become competent in picking up finished sites and restoring to the finished live domain. my new site PISA.net.au is functioning well BUT its still using the database from the test site [testsitepro6.biz]. can you tell me what I have done wrong? I need to get good at this.

Nic. no need to reply. I have read your quick start guide and have seen what I did wrong. I will delete the site, make a new database first then do the restoration as per normal. many thanx for having good resources to find this information easily.
