Dear All,

I've installe Akeeba succesfully and now want to have webcron working with it. So I made an account on webcron.org. Gave the cronjob a name, enabled it, set the time out to 600sec (my back up takes only 2.07, just to be sure) I have added the URL it should execute http://www.domainname.nl/web2/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=backup&key=YourSecretKey&profile=profile_id.

But what do I need to put in the LOGIN part? In in the password part I filled in the key (secret word) I made in Akeeba configuration (in which I say YESto ACTIVATE WEBSITE AND EXTERNAL BACK-UP)

But when I test the CRON it comes up with an error 403 ADMITTANCE DENIED in the CONTENT PART (TRUNCATED AT 512 CHARACTERS)

and with this:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Tue, 06 Dec 2011 11:28:26 GMT
Server: Apache
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.3.3
P3P: CP="NOI ADM DEV PSAi COM NAV OUR OTRo STP IND DEM"
Set-Cookie: cf6064d27ddc06b3cb312cd6779fbc47=3fb81277ac70c7bd4d1982c21cd1d5f3; path=/
X-SERV

TRUNCATED AT 512 CHARACTERS

Please help as this is the last thing I need to do to have the website up and running!

Thanks in advance
Edward

Does your key contain any non-alphanumeric characters, e.g. accented letters, punctuation, question marks etc?

Hi Nicholas,

This is the key I made: bUoC11Cd

what do I need to put in the LOGIN part?

First, create a new key and do not post it here. This forum is public. Anyone can figure out your site and your key and remotely get a copy of your site.

You must not put anything in the Login part.

Please follow the step by step instructions on this page: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/automating-your-backup (look for "Using webcron.org to automate your backups"). The key you have generated goes to the key= part of the "Url you want to execute", as per these instructions. If you follow these instructions, you can't go wrong.

Note: it should be obvious that in these instructions the www.example.com domain name and ak33b4s3cRet secret key are just examples which must be replaced with your site's domain name and secret key respectively.

Dear nicholas,

Yeah that was a bit dumb. I've changed it. I also saw what I did wrong: I had to put the key into the URL and not in the password part.

Now it works! Thanks.

Another question: can I send the back-up result (JPA file) to an external location (say to a location on a complete other server), so that it isphysically not available/ visible on the website location (in case of hacking) and we always have a back-up on a other location?

You're welcome! I'm glad it all works now!

Regarding your other question, yes, but only if you have the Akeeba Backup Professional (for-a-fee) version of our software. Then you have the option to upload it by FTP, SFTP or send it to DropBox, Amazon S3, RackSpace CloudFiles, Microsoft Windows Azure and –once I'm done with the integration– also to Box.net's cloud storage service.

Ok,

I'll advice my client to buy the Professional version.

Thanks for your service, great!
