Hello gary,

Please try removing or renaming the administrator/modules/mod_akadmin directory. Does that allow you to access your site's back-end?

Yes. I can get in now.

I guess I should just delete the whole component and reinstall it ?

No, please don't do it yet. I am trying to find out what is the real cause of this issue and work around it.

That's very strange. I've tried different configurations of PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3, using Joomla! 1.5.24 and 1.7.2 but I can not replicate this issue. Could you please send me a Personal Message (I am user "nicholas") with the following information:
- URL to your site's administrator
- Super Administrator username and password
- FTP connection information
This will allow me to replicate the issue directly on your site, find out what is causing it and fix it. It's this pesky thing about issues: unless I can replicate them, I can't fix them :)
