How do I get this log?

RCheesley
Go to view log in Akeeba, and download it.

OK you can definitely chalk this one up to a blonde moment and/or a ridiculously busy day.

As this release was top of the pile on the akeeba subs, I thought it was a new release! *retires to the corner craving caffeine*

Something odd going on here, I just posted that reply in response to my thread on the akeeba subscriptions forum. Clearly I need to step away from the computer.

Ruth,

Sadly, the current versions of Akeeba products do not detect insufficient caffeine levels in users. I believe that function is on Nicholas' to-do list. :-)

I'm glad you got it working.

OK, back to the SRP restoration issue ;)

Are you trying to restore that System Restore Point on your Mac? It looks like you have a .DS_Cache directory in that folder. For a Mac, that's a special file which can be read from and not written through. Unfortunately, that's what causing the restoration issues :(

A possible workaround would be deleting the directories of the component you are trying to restore. This should allow PHP to be able to write that .DS_Cache file without freaking up. If this doesn't work, I will have to tackle this pesky file in the restoration code and issue a dev release.

Hi there,

No, not on a mac *shudders at the thought* (Kubuntu local machine and site I'm restoring on is hosted at Rochen) - was trying to do a live restore on the website when I made my rather foolish mistake with akeeba subs. In fact, nobody working on that site uses a Mac.

Nothing in the cache directory, I checked that, and can't see any .DS_Cache folder but might not be able to see it via FTP?

P.S. the component I was trying to restore was Akeeba Subs ;)

PPS - this happens when I try a full site restore as well as with restore points.

For a full site restoration, the workaround is easy. Extract it locally, using Akeeba eXtract Wizard 3.3. Then, do something like that in your terminal:
find /path/to/extracted/files -type d -name ".DS_Cache" -delete

to remove those folders. Then ZIP all the remaining files and use Akeeba Kickstart to restore on the live site.

FYI - Had the exact same issue here, when using the site transfer wizard today.

We were transferring between two sites on the same server

/public_html/site1/

to

/public_html/site2/

And Interestingly, the error we got when transferring to site2 was that the folder /public_html/site1DSCache was not OK (No instead of Yes under the Cache section of Directories, and also no slash?) if anything I would expected this to be /public_html/site2/.DS_Cache/ if this was due to some errant hidden folders/files from a Mac.

Also we don't have any Mac's here - it's all windows 7 machines.

This was for Joomla 1.6.4 and Akeeba 3.3.5.

We have now upgraded to 3.3.6 (which I see ends support for Joomla 1.6.X) and will give that a try.

Normally, Akeeba Backup 3.3.6 should solve this issue. In this version I have added an automatic filter to skip .DS_Store and Thumbs.db files from the backup.
