Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (1.5.24)
PHP version: (5...)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (the last, PRO version)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:

Hi,

I have the following issue: scheduled backups from command line work fine, but...If I execute the backup manually from backend akeeba control panel in joomla, the backup file ( zip format ) I obtain in this way is more compressed then the file I obtain using the command line scheduled option: 16,5 mb vs. 65 mb ...

I tried this on an other vps plan ( from the same host ), and the result is the same: backup commad line works fine, but the archive a zip file bigger then the manual archive file obtained from backend.

Please, can help?

Thank You
Best Regards

I see that the backup produced is 632934750 bytes (about 62Mb), not 16.5Mb. I have to ask a few questions:
- Did you upload the log file from the Command Line origin or the Backend origin? The log file for the command line backup is the "Command Line" origin
- Are you using the same backup profile in both cases?

OK, I see what's going on. Your memory limit is set to -1 in your CLI php.ini file. Of course, you don't have infinite memory available, so Akeeba Backup goes into "cautious mode": it disables compression and includes all files to the archive uncompressed. If you edit your php.ini and set a rational PHP memory limit, e.g. 64 or 128 Mb, everything will be compressed and the backup file size won't be different.

Hi,

That's true - the host didn't install the PHP cli - so I had to do that ( ... ).

Thank You, now it works very fine!
