Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 1.5.23 & 1.7
PHP version: very current
MySQL version: very current
Host: Bluehost & Hostmonster
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.4-pro

My subscription to Akeeba Backup Pro expired and now my auto backups using a cron job is not functioning. Is this supposed to happen or did all my cron jobs on all my sites on all different servers at 2 different companies fail at the same time?

Please let me know if this is by design or I need to investigate this issue.

Thanks,
Randy

Hello Randy,

The two events are completely unrelated. Akeeba Backup -the component- doesn't care if you have a valid subscription or not. It doesn't check that when it's running. On top of that, I saw that you have renewed your subscription, so the expired subscription thing can't be a factor any more :)

Can you please check if you have enough free space on those servers? This is the number one cause of failed CRON jobs - it is the metric none of us (not even me, I'm guilty!) regularly check on their servers.

If this is not the case, please send me the log file (from the Command Line origin, please) from either of those sites so that I can take a look at what went wrong.

Hey Nicholas,

I didn't think you guys did that. But it is extremely strange that ALL my backups crons across 4 servers on 2 different hosting companies cannot find the cron file at the same time my subscription expired. The cron is firing (I receive the server cron email) but nothing happens with Akeeba.

Like I said, I am guilty of not yet investigating into the details so I figured to start here in the forum.

Guess I have my work planned for me this afternoon. I will look into server space limitations but the companies I use, Bluehost & Hostmonster have 'unlimited' resources. Also I noticed that my configurations for 3 backups retention no longer functions. Weird. Have not really looked into what else isn't working.

When I figure it out, I will post back in case someone else ever has this problem.

Hi Randy,

The quota settings do have a problem with 3.3.4. I am aware of that, I just didn't have time to perform the final QA required before making a new release available. I hope that this week I'll get down to it and release 3.3.5 which fixes that.

Hey Nicholas,

It is NO PROBLEM on your end. Seems there was a change in the syntax for cron jobs by my 2 hosting companies. Result was...nothing happened when the cron executed. Just a timing coincidence with my Akeeba subscription expiring.

We can close this thread out. Keep up the good work - I am a supporter!
