Hi,

after a problem unrelated to akeeba, I had to remove all files from my host and do a clean install of the site. I uploaded into public_html my most recent akeeba backup and the kickstart file to the same directory. The straight forward click and go method which I orignally used to upload the site from xampp did not work (error) so I followed the instructions off AkeebaBackupQuickStart.pdf and tried in FTP mode (page 18/19). Success was only temporary as after about five minutes or so it stopped and rpesented a new error message "An error occured; could not upload preview/php-cgi (this seems to happen on the same file actually as aI re-tried it several times [screen-bgd.jpg]) And here I am! Somewhat lost -after numerous attempts. I have managed to reset the site up on xampp locally withot (too much) issue, but on our live host it is giving me no joy.

Are you using kickstart when you get the most recent "can't upload" message? If so, do you see files and folders that have been extracted up to that point? I'm trying to determine if kickstart is quitting right away or in the middle of the extract.

Do you have enough disk space available?

I have been using kickstart yes, and I can see files that have been successfully transferred so it seems to be quitting during the extract.

Have checked disk space and that is not a problem.

I have also tried using the site transfer wizard from my local machine to host server, this too has failed (tried several times)- it seems to block around the same point (68%) during the transferring files to remote server stage. Attached is the log.

Sorry I just want to be clear, but try downloading *my* ("this" in your words) backup archive to my local machine...... (it is already here, extracted and functioning although from a kickstart restore).

I think the video tutorial you mean is AB03 - Downloading your archives through ftp.

will give it a crack...

just as a side note - it is definitely stopping at the same spot each time.

Sorry I forgot to ask this: As the site is functioning correctly on localhost - should I not be doing this transfer from localhost to server using ftp? or have I missed something....(maybe just verrry tired!)

Just thought I would let you know that the first (of the most recent) option you suggested failed like the other attempts. I followed the second and voilá! I am back up and running.
