Joomla! version: 1.7.1
PHP version: 5.3.8 (OVH) and 5.3.4 (localhost)
MySQL version: 5
Host: localhost
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.4

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:

My sites run on Joomla 1.7.1 and the latest versions of akeeba and admintools pro.
Recently, after a restoration in localhost on my PC, I am unable to access the administrators.
After entering my login and password, a 404 is under wamp or XAMP.
I tried several backups of multiple sites jpa or zip format, same result.

I tried to transfer all of files except the file named configuration.php to localhost, overwriting files creating by restore, same result.

Can you tell what I can do to acces again at the administor in localhost ?

Please check your XAMP error log file to see if there is any more information on the 404 error, specifically what file it can't find. This is not a "usual" error for a restore to a different server.

In the firebug console, there is :

"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://localhost/nameofmywebsite/index.php"

Hi!

This problem sounds like one of the following is going on:
- You have a RewriteBase / in your .htaccess which doesn't correspond to the restored website; or
- You have set up a $live_site variable in your configuration.php file, but it's not correctly set up

I would suggest first taking a look and carefully following all of our troubleshooting instructions.

If this problem persists, please also check your administrator directory for the existence of a .htaccess file. If there is one, try removing it.

Please let me know if any of those suggestions worked in your case :)

I found how to fix this bug.In the configuration.php, you need to replace :

  $live_site = 'URL web site';


by

 $live_site=' ' 


and you need to remove these lines :

	var $MetaTitle = '1';
	var $legacy = '0';
	var $xmlrpc_server = '1';
	var $debug_db = '0';


For information, the $live_site variable was automatically configured during the restoration and the other lines are also automatically added as they are not in the original configuration.php.

The live_site URL was not automatically configured during restoration. It was read from the backed up site's configuration.php file and presented to you so that you can edit or remove it in the last step of the restoration process.

The other lines are indeed automatically added. They will be removed once Akeeba Backup drops Joomla! 1.5 support completely. The thing is that the installer can't possibly know if it is restoring a Joomla! 1.5, 1.6 or 1.7 site. It, therefore, tries to create a configuration.php file which is compatible with any and all of the above versions. The extra keys are simply unused and do not affect the stability of your site. Your only problem was the live_site variable ;)
