Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 1.5.23
PHP version: 5.2.14
MySQL version: 5.1.49-log
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.3

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:
Hi,

I had Akeeba Backup installed in my domain acricamde.com/web but when I tried to install the new version 3.3.3, I had permissions problem I think:

It was not possible to copy the selected file.
JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /hsphere/local/home/acricamde/acricamde.com/web/tmp/install_4e83e004c4e3e/frontend/akeeba.php to /hsphere/local/home/acricamde/acricamde.com/web/components/com_akeeba/akeeba.php

Then I deleted all the files in the server from akeeba and reinstall the new version, I had the same problem.

Later I uploaded a folder called akeeba in the /tmp folder and I tried to install it.

And I had this error:

-1 - An error has occurred.
It was not possible to copy the selected file.

Then I saw that joomla created all folders of akeeba again but with another ownership.

Hope you can help me, I dont know what to do now.

Regards

This is a Joomla! issue which most likely has to do with permissions. Please try following the installation troubleshooting instructions first. If this doesn't work, please send me a Personal Message with the following information so that I can take a look and help you:
- A link back to this thread, so that I remember why you send me a private message
- The URL to your site's administrator section
- Super Administrator username and password
- FTP connection information
and give me up to 24 hours.

Thank you for the PM! You had several permissions issues in several directories, as I suspected. Using the FTP access you gave me I fixed them all and I was able to install Akeeba Backup on your site.

Please note that I have installed Akeeba Backup Core. You can easily upgrade to Akeeba Backup Professional now, without any problems :)

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you very much for your help.

I installed Akeeba Backup Professional without any problems.

Can you tell me what do you do to fix this problems? Only for learning because I have a lot of joomla sites with Akeeba.

Best Regards

You're welcome!

The problem was that the Spanish language folders were unwritable. I just made them writable and the installation worked.
