Description of my issue:

This is more of a little annoyance than an issue or show stopper, more of an OCD driven need to figure it out.

Whenever I move a site from Windows Server to Debian it goes smoothly however, there's an annoying issue with the admin login after moved over. The fist attempt to login results in a page refresh. Second attempt works just fine.

No error log entries are generated. No error messages displayed. I remove the web.config and the various folders that are added by windows.

My question is: Has anyone else seen similar behavior? Or maybe my process is flawed and I'm missing an extra step? Could it be Windows adding something deeper than the obvious folders in the root?

I've read docs, searched extensively and even replaced all of the core files and it doesn't make a difference or have I found a clue.

I can not replicate it, but it seems that it has to do with the way the sessions are handled by Joomla! and PHP. It's as if the first attempt to create a session fails and the second one succeeds. I'm not entirely sure why -as I can't replicate it- but, as you said, it's only a minor nuisance.
