Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Don't see any that mention cron job
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 1.7.0
PHP version: PHP 5.2
MySQL version: MySQL 5.0
Host: www.spiritofchristanglican.org
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.1

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Before I get started with the problem - I just wanted to say that Akeeba is a great product!

Description of my issue: Running Akeeba on multiple sites, just recently started using Cron jobs. The cron job is working just fine on all the Joomla 1.5 sites but not on the Joomla 1.7.0 sites (3 total). Back up works just fine from back end.

I get an e-mail from the server that the job has started:

Starting a new backup with the following parameters:
Profile ID 1
Description "Command-line backup"

Current memory usage: 121.99 Kb

Unsetting time limit restrictions.

but not the completion message.

Oops! That's correct. Some core Joomla! files have changed their paths in Joomla! 1.7 which causes the CLI backup to fail. Please try the latest developer's release (svn814) which fixes this issue. Just install it on top of your existing Akeeba Backup version. Please test it and tell me if it does fix the problem for you so that I can release a new version. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Nick, you are talking about 1.7 I have 1.6 issues should I try the latest developers release in 1.6?

I think you have a different issue. The problem I solved was with backup.php (the command-line script used for CRON jobs that's exclusive to the Professional release). I assume you have the Core release which does not have this feature. Please start a new thread with your issue and remember to ZIP and attach your backup log file so that I can help you more efficiently :)

Nicholas - Worked great - one interesting bug - I got a message saying

We are emailing you to inform you that there is an updated version of Akeeba Backup which can be installed on your site, Spirit of Christ Anglican Church. The details of the new version are:
Version: 3.3.1
Release date: 2011-07-22
Stability: Stable

And the back up page on the site says an upgrade is available. I guess it doesn't recognize the Developer's release as being higher than the highest stable release if you have stable as the setting for notification. I usually only install the stable releases but my 1.7 sites aren't very production yet.

Thanks so much for your quick response & a great product!

It's not a bug, it's a feature. There are two different update streams for dev releases and official releases. The official releases always take precedence over the dev releases when it comes to updates, unless you set Update only to developer releases in the Component Parameters. In that case, it only tries to update to the dev releases.
