Mandatory information about my setup:

Joomla! version: 1.5.22
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (unknown)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:

am trying to reinstall my website. It keep stalling during the extraction. The grey bar at the bottom will say what it is doing and then it will be blank and no more progress will be made.

All my backups said they were successful but I can't get any from after February to work - In Feb/March the hacker holes were filled.

I am using the latest edition of Kickstart 3.3. I even tried an earlier version of Kickstart that I did use in Feb and it also wouldn't work! I'd rather not go back to the January version and have the holes fixed again.

There is no gray progress bar in Kickstart 3.3. I am not sure what you're talking about. I assume you're talking about your browser's progress bar, in which case you have a PHP issue that doesn't let Kickstart run.

First ask your host to verify that they are using PHP 5.2.7 or later (PHP 5.2.17 or PHP 5.3.5 strongly recommended). Many hosts use PHP 4 by default, which is way too old (it's officially not supported since August 8th, 2008, some three years ago) and doesn't allow Kickstart to work.

If this is not the case, you can always extract your backup locally using Akeeba eXtract Wizard, upload all extracted files and directories to your site and access the restoration script as http://www.example.com/installation/index.php, where www.example.com is the domain name of your site.

Also I hope that you were using Akeeba Backup 3.1.5 or later. Versions 3.1.1 through 3.1.4 are known to have issues with generated backup, which is exactly why we had released those updates. If you have a backup generated by one of the affected versions, most likely not even Akeeba eXtract Wizard will be able to extract them.
